Getting started

1. Open the Hayatar app.
2. Tap Open Settings and enable ArmKeyboard under Keyboards.
3. Turn on Allow Full Access (needed for the dictionary, settings, and AI).
4. In any app, tap the 🌐 globe key to switch to the Armenian keyboard.
5. Type using Latin phonetic spelling — e.g. barev becomes բարև.

FAQ

Why does the keyboard need “Allow Full Access”?

For the 65,000-word dictionary, to sync the settings you choose in the app, to store your personal word predictions on your device, and to enable the optional AI feature. The keyboard never logs or uploads what you type.

How do I type the different Armenian letters?

Type the way the word sounds in Latin letters. Use digraphs like sh→շ, kh→խ, ts→ծ, dz→ձ, zh→ժ. Long-press a key for variants. Full mapping is in the app’s Setup tab.

How do I switch to typing Armenian letters directly?

In the app’s Settings tab, choose the Phonetic, Alphabetical, or Classic layout.

How do I use the AI writing assistant?

In the app’s Settings tab, open “AI Suggestions”, paste your own OpenAI API key, tap “Test connection”, and turn it on. Then type a message and tap the ✨ button on the keyboard. It’s optional and uses your own OpenAI account.

Is my typing private?

Yes. Predictions stay on your device, and the only text ever sent off-device is the single message you choose to improve with the AI button. See our Privacy Policy.

The keyboard doesn’t appear / the globe key does nothing.

Make sure you added it in iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards, and that “Allow Full Access” is on. Then long-press the globe key to pick it.
